The Legacy Garden
Growing For Generations
Set just outside the home on an in-town lot in Lake Geneva, The Legacy Garden was designed to complete a newly reimagined outdoor space. With a patio, pool, and established landscaping already creating a place for the family to spend time together, the kitchen garden added something the landscape was missing: a place to grow.
Four 4-by-6-foot cedar raised beds create 96 square feet of growing space, arranged in our classic four-garden layout and connected by custom double arch trellises. The compact footprint fits naturally into the property without overwhelming the yard, while its position just beyond the pool gives the family a beautiful view of the garden from the deck.
But this garden was designed for more than the landscape around it. Three generations of the family now grow, harvest, cook, and bake from the garden together. While Grandma tends the beds, her granddaughter can be right beside her picking vegetables, learning where food comes from, and becoming part of the traditions happening there.
Even the planting carries a piece of the family's history. San Marzano tomatoes climb the arches as a nod to their Italian heritage, turning one of the garden's defining design features into part of its story.
For a family with busy professional lives, the garden was designed to be productive without becoming overwhelming. 96 square feet gives them plenty to harvest just steps from home, proving that a meaningful kitchen garden doesn't require acres of land. Sometimes there is room for generations of memories in four raised beds.
