The Heirloom Garden
Set on a restored family farm, The Heirloom Garden was designed to feel like a natural extension of the property. Tucked close to the home and kitchen, the space seemed almost as though it had been waiting for a garden.
The classic four-garden layout brings structure to the space, with four-inch-thick, hand-built cedar raised beds arranged around custom double arches. Black obelisk trellises repeat throughout the garden, adding height and rhythm against the white farmhouse and creating plenty of vertical growing space.
But what makes this garden especially fitting for its name is the way it is tended. This client came to the garden eager to learn and has become an incredibly diligent grower, making full use of what each season produces. She harvests faithfully, eats from the garden every day she can, preserves what she can't eat fresh, and has a particular love for dark leafy greens. Very little goes to waste.
On a family property that has been thoughtfully restored and cared for over time, the garden feels like another piece of that story. Something new, built with respect for what was already here, and now part of a place that will continue to be tended for years to come.
